Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress best recognized for her performances as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she quit high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. She landed her debut role as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001 despite struggling in the financial department. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she acted as a principal character for the initial two seasons. She was also awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was a co-star alongside Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, was looking to go into film. She appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. In 2008, she played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace played Shannon's part in Lost for two more episodes. This included the final episode of the series. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth series of Californication. She plays Faith, who is an admirer and muse to the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family she's the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens She appeared in small roles in the films of her father and co-starred with her older brother in Donnie Darko, a famous cult film. Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama) and Sherrybaby (606), both of which earned the actress Golden Globe Award nods. Her fame grew after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) as well as a number of successful commercial films that she was a part of in the year 2006. She received a nomination as the best supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mom in Crazy Heart. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee and in the Big Bang and Hysteria. Apart from her character as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). One of her latest roles included the protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal made her debut as a director and writer in 2021, with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
